The design’ “Tread Lightly on the Earth” was digitally printed out on cotton last week (20th) at Bower Ashton, 3 copies of the image. This is quite a large image – around A3 – and I have heavily worked the original water colour in Photoshop. I had spent a couple of hours in digital print with ? trying to get the image into a CMYK separation for screen printing, without much success.
But if this image is to be used again I will need to get to grips with this. The separations are not dark enough to create good photo stencils for screen print. Reducing the channels to posterized b & w cannot give true colouring, which leaves experimentation with colours at the screen printing stage as the only option (rather than knowing which pantone colours to use). However the digital print is simple and colours are an excellent match to the artwork. So perhaps I should stick to digital print for this image.
I have made the digital printouts into aprons, for gifts.
