National Gallery of Ireland

February 2016.  This large gallery is located in the centre of Dublin south of the Liffey river and is currently undergoing extensive refurbishment.  However there is plenty to see, with the 1916 Rising strongly commemorated until April.

An exhibition titled, Pathos of Distance by Sarah Pierce looked at the Irish experience of the diaspora was accessible but also engaging and moving; this is part of an ongoing research project.

Many images of paintings and sculptures in the museums collection are available to view on line.
